• The following info comes from Rowdy Taliaferro, who is on scene in Phuket:
  Patong Beach Rotary Club Tsunami Relief Fund is raising money for re-building the local community in Phuket and nearby Khao Lak Beach. The Fund will provide long-term relief to children who have lost one or both parents, and to mothers with young children who lost their husband and father. Scholarships for continued education, both formal and vocational, will be offered and monitored. The Fund will also finance water purification systems and other essential needs in local schools and villages. All scholarships and re-construction efforts will be contracted and supervised by Rotary members with appropriate expertise. All money will be applied directly to those in need, with no administration or overhead charges.
  
  If you're in the US and want your contribution to be tax-deductible, donate to the Littleton, Colorado Rotary Foundation - they're working directly with the Patong Beach Rotary Club. Once the checks clear, the funds will be wired to the Rotary Club of Patong Beach in Phuket, so the money should be in hand very promptly, with minimal charges. Checks should be made payable to THE LITTLETON ROTARY FOUNDATION, and mailed to C/O C. Dale Flowers, 7255 S. Sundown Circle, Littleton, CO 80122-4284.
