Awnings

Awnings are a critical part of comfortable cruising in the tropics as well as in cooler environments. The FPB 64 comes with a complete awning package, the use of which has been a key design element from the beginning. The images above and below concentrate on the two major awnings over the flying bridge and the aft deck area. Additional awnings are provided for the foredeck and side windows.

A welded aluminum framework supports both of these large awnings.

This provides the strength to support the awnings into moderate gale force winds. The full battened design makes the awnings easy to furl for ocean passages where heavy weather is a risk, or for long term storage.

Excellent protection from sun and rain is provided for the flying bridge and the forward portion of the aft deck.

Protection includes the entry door to the interior, the aft office and stateroom hatches, and the Bar B Q area.

The aft deck awning lends itself to side and perhaps aft curtains of "Isinglass" for cruising in cooler climates.

We should also mention that the flying bridge has clear Lexan panels surrounding the seating to provide a wind break. This is the same system developed and fine tuned on the FPB 83 and it does a marvelous job of enhancing the range of weather in which the flying bridge is enjoyable.
