Best boat to sail around the world on
The requirements for a boat capable of circumnavigating are fairly specific.
You want a boat that is capable of dealing with whatever the world's oceans
can dish up; one that is roomy enough to manage the number of people who
will be on board with all their stuff; one that is capable of making quick
passages but still be able to be sailed easily with a shorthanded crew.
And while there are a handful of boats that fit the bill, Steve Dashew's
Sundeer 64 is purpose-made for circumnavigating and it shows. In fact,
the 64s have done multiple circumnavigations under different owners who
undoubtedly loved the features that made the boat perfect for the job:
including ketch rigs with large roached-mainsails offering more performance
and easier handling than traditional mainsails.
