Cape Verdes bound for Argentina - 1 Oct
by Kate Laird

5 41 N
25 56 N

Sailing! We aren't quite on course (heading more or less for Fortaleza, Brazil, though we'll have to tack before that!). Our waypoint is now Recife, Brazil (we're not planning to go to Recife, but it is a spot to head for at the minute).

We have seen quite a lot of ships, several a day. Hamish reckons there is much more traffic than when he came this way on Pelagic in 1987.

Went into the head this morning before sunrise and smelled something "fishy" - a flying fish had come in through the very small port and was lying on the floor! (When we were in the Cape Verdes, I discovered a tiny flying fish expired in the sink in the forward head. It had come in through the even smaller port in the forward head and augured into the drain. I am glad I noticed it! Days can go by without us going into the forepeak, and it would have been quite vile by now.)

Helen and Anna are pretending to be at Hogwarts.

Delightful to be sailing again after all that motoring.
