Family and friends:
We continue to have good sailing conditions after our second full day at sea. Winds are 15 to 20 knots from the north-northwest and we are moving along at a nice clip. Our 24 hour run was 209 nautical miles. Our position as of this writing was 36 deg. 46 min. South Latitude and 176 deg. 15 min. West Longitude.
The sun poked out for awhile today making it shorts and T-shirt weather for awhile, and Russell Radio told us we can expect about the same conditions for the next couple of days. It has been a wee bit rolly, meaning one had for the ship and one for the cappuccino. I think we can handle that.
After dinner last night the excitement for the evening was watching the GPS change from east to west longitude, indicating we had crossed over the International Date Line, making it Sunday for another day. Is this what they call a long weekend?
The crew energy level is improving as we catch up on our rest and get our sea legs, or paws, respectively. MaiTai hasn't forgotten what it means when the fishing line is reeled in. Fresh fish! We landed a small tuna yesterday afternoon and the crew appetite is calling for sashimi before dinner tonight. The minor outbreak of mal du mer is gone for the time being.
More when the radio gods permit.
Cheers, George, Paula, Phyllis, Steve, Dale and MaiTai
