The Elan ReportsScott & Ryan Bannerot

Scott and Ryan Bannerot are like many of the folks you'll meet out there cruising. Scott worked hard, saved, and at an early age took off to live the cruising dream with his new bride Wendy. In the midst of realizing this dream, Ryan came along, born in 1999 during a port stay in Auckland, New Zealand. At age seven, Ryan is already a seasoned mariner!

Scott is the co-author of The Cruiser's Handbook of Fishing and relies on his background as professional mariner, fisherman, and marine biologist to keep the cruising kitty topped up. Wendy has since departed the marriage, but Scott and Ryan continue to operate the same venerable 41-foot French-built aluminum sloop Elan. Lately they've been based in Mooloolaba, Queensland, Australia, where the cruising dream remains alive and well. They have big plans to be back on the water soon, and Ryan is particularly excited about writing some Setsail articles of his own.
