29, 2006 - Two Reports from a Cruising Kid
by Juliana Boyle (age 7)
SetSail note: We are delighted to introduce our youngest contributor, seven-year-old Juliana Boyle. Juliana is currently cruising in Europe aboard the 51-foot catamaran Zia, along with her parents and younger sister Cassie.
#1: Huge Fish
I woke up in the morning of my Dad's birthday and hear the fishing rod going crazy! We had the fish on for nearly two hours, swimming under the boat and all around. When we finally got it in it was the biggest tuna you have ever seen. It turned out to be a Blue Fin. The fish almost weighed as much as me and I weigh 49 pounds. It's even bigger than my mom's biggest cutting board. Both of my parents couldn't even hold it together. I think my mom is going to spend hours cutting it up. We could invite 20 people over and it wouldn't be enough! It was huge.

#2: Nice Is Nice
Right now we are in Nice, France. A nice little town with LOTS of surprises. For instance at one ice cream place, there were extremely odd flavors like beer, avocado, tomato, Irish coffee, basil and all sorts of other weird flavors! There are lots of interesting churches, restaurants, cafes and shops. We like to bike around except we only have two bikes. Here's what we did, my sister and I each stood on the luggage carrier and held around our parents as they pedaled. Anyway whenever Cassie or me climbed the sail (I learned how to do it too) people stared. I think Nice is a very nice town.
