We've been looking for a good mug to use with our tea and coffee when we're at sea. The ideal mug would have a non-scratching skid-resistant bottom, a wide base and low center of gravity for capsize resistance, and a lid to keep the contents warm as well as to prevent spills. We've been looking in department and hardware stores to no avail.

And then we found the mug in the photo above. It is designed for use in the office (to prevent spills onto computer keyboards) and is perfect for a boat. The base is wider than the top, and the stainless surround adds some weight down low.

The bottom has this moderately soft plastic pad, which sticks well to our varnished surfaces. It is a little below the level of the cup, so the finish of whatever this is sitting on is not scratched.

Here's a photo of the lid. It has a very nice looking seal around the edge.
We picked these up in a local Starbucks coffee house for $9.95, each which included a free drink.
