Hello to SetSail.

August is almost over. Another summer nearly gone. Typical to our nature, we still have not figured out where we are going to winter over. Maine is our most likely choice - given that we are already here - but so far we have not hit the right combination of schools, protected harbor, and tolerable scenery.

Other than the realities of life, the cruising part of life is going much better. We have been lazing around, skirting the fog, and basking in the recent bouts of pure sunshine. For most of August we have been hanging out in Sommes Cove on Mt. Desert Island. Anchoring there is free, and protected, and there is even a free bus that accesses the national park. "Free" is a difficult word to apply in Maine's busy ports. Nothing is impossible.

The Acadia national park has some great hiking. We have scaled many of the hills and have swum (swimmed?) in the many lakes. On the coastal side of things we have found some secluded anchorages amidst the hordes of fellow cruisers. The trick is to ignore a slighly exposed anchorage and enjoy the beaches ashore.

As soon as we figure out what our future plans are we pass it the information along.

Bye from the crew of Driver
